demand for biofuel from
Europe and riding crude oil
prices, investors rushed to
build plants to turn palm oil
into biodiesel. But with
falling oil prices and
changing opinions towards
biofuel many of those
projects were put on hold.
To adapt, biofuel producers
now have to be a little more
creative.

The PROBIODIESEL (Programa Brasileiro de Desenvolvimento Tecnolόgico de Biodiesel) programme, coordinated by the Ministriy of Science and Technology, Secretariat of Technology and Enterprise Policy, was announced in May 2002. This helps to set up the regulatory framework for the development and production of Biodiesel in the country. |

As a major manufacturer of Bioethanol from sugar cane, Brazil has taken into consideration the production of soy-ethyl-ester besides soy-methyl ester. |
