years ago, with surging
demand for biofuel from
Europe and riding crude oil
prices, investors rushed to
build plants to turn palm oil
into biodiesel. But with
falling oil prices and
changing opinions towards
biofuel many of those
projects were put on hold.
To adapt, biofuel producers
now have to be a little more
creative.

Ireland has proposed the following scheme to start the biodiesel plan: - Can apply for relief from mineral oil tax is the biodiesel and end product blended with biodiesel up to 5% are meeting the EN 14214 and EN 590 respectively, and is used in the scope of a testing program or pilot project. |

Furthermore, 10% of the capital cost of plants (capacity from 13,000 to 22,000 tonnes) can be funded by the Sustainable Energy Ireland. |

However, the Government has suggested 0.06% as the target for 2005, instead of the 2% stated by EU. |

General excise tax relief is neither being implemented or being considered at the moment. |
