This is a video report about
World Business: A couple of
years ago, with surging
demand for biofuel from
Europe and riding crude oil
prices, investors rushed to
build plants to turn palm oil
into biodiesel. But with
falling oil prices and
changing opinions towards
biofuel many of those
projects were put on hold.
To adapt, biofuel producers
now have to be a little more
creative.

Biodiesel in United Kingdom |
|
| |
 |
Currently, the British government offers a 20p reduction in the duties payable by biodiesel until 2007. |
|
| |
|
In England, biodisel is mostly marketed at 5% blend with fossil diesel, with part of the biodiesel being imported from neibouring countries and USA. |
|
| |
|
Majority of the biodiesel is sold to large fleets directly, or via 100 filing stations. |
|
| |
|
While the government is imposing new tax regulation to help promoting biodiesel, biodiesel production from professionally built industrial sized biodiesel plant is like to increase. |
|
| |
|
However, there are also growing number of hobby-inventors and home-brewers in the country, of which sometimes using blends of unesterified recycling oil and fossil diesel. |
