This is a video report about
World Business: A couple of
years ago, with surging
demand for biofuel from
Europe and riding crude oil
prices, investors rushed to
build plants to turn palm oil
into biodiesel. But with
falling oil prices and
changing opinions towards
biofuel many of those
projects were put on hold.
To adapt, biofuel producers
now have to be a little more
creative.

Innovation with Molecular Distillation

Carotech has embarked on its full production activities via its unique extraction process that is protected through US Patent No: 5,157,132 (1992). Unlike typical biodiesel producers who produce unprocessed methyl ester which is later sold as biodiesel, Carotech has taken a step further via the patented molecular distillation process, to commercially extract valuable phytonutrients, specifically the Tocotrienol Complex (Tocomin®), Mixed Carotene Complex (Caromin®) and Phytosterol (Stelessterol) in the patented process.
With the patented process, Carotech produces refined and molecularly-distilled palm methyl ester (CaroDiesel™) and crude glycerine since 1995. CaroDiesel™ is the only refined and molecularly-distilled palm methyl ester in Malaysia. |
